What this is
Bringing a puppy home is so exciting! It can also feel like a lot. This pack walks you through the week before your puppy arrives, and the week after.
You will look at your home the way a puppy sees it, and keep your shopping list short. You will plan a calm first day and get through the first nights. Then you will build a daily routine the whole house can follow.
Everything in it uses kind methods. That means you reward what you like, with treats, praise or play. There is no punishment, no fear and no force.
What's inside
- 31-page PDF guide (A4, for screen or print)
- 5 short lessons (about 40 minutes of reading in total)
- A short word guide that explains special words in simple terms
- Key points and a quick self-check at the end of each lesson
- 7 printables (9 pages), also supplied as a separate PDF
The 5 lessons
- Before your puppy comes home. Make your home safe for a puppy, and keep your shopping list short.
- The first day home. Coming home, having a sniff around, and keeping things calm.
- The first few nights. Sleep, crying and cuddles.
- Building a daily routine. Sleep, play, food, toilet trips and training, all in a daily routine.
- Health and Aussie basics. Vet visits, vaccinations, microchips, council registration, ticks, cane toads and hot weather.
The 7 printables

- Room-by-Room Puppy-Proofing Checklist
- First 24 Hours and First Nights Plan (with a Day 1 log)
- Sample Daily Routine (with cue words and a 3-day check)

- First-Week Checklist (3 pages)
Who it's for
- People about to bring home a puppy, or in their first week or two with one.
- Families who want everyone to use the same routine, rules and words.
- First-time owners in Australia who want a simple list of what to ask their vet and council.
- Kids and teens who want to help with the new puppy (with an adult, of course).
What it is not (please read before buying)
- It is not vet advice. It does not diagnose or treat anything. If your puppy is sick, or it is an emergency, call your vet or an after-hours emergency vet straight away.
- It is not a full training course. It covers settling in and daily routine only.
- It is not one-to-one help. If your puppy seems scared, snappy or very upset when left alone, see your vet. Also see a qualified trainer who uses rewards and kindness.
- It does not replace puppy school. It works best with a good puppy class that uses rewards and kindness.
- No video or audio. It is a PDF guide with printables.
- No promised results. Every puppy and every home is different, so we cannot promise any result.
This is general Australian information. Microchip and registration rules are different in each state, territory and council. Please check with your local council.
